California Man Gets Five Years
Last Friday in San Mateo County Superior Court, James Limos was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery that involved iPads.
Back in April on two separate occasions Limos contacted individuals who were selling their iPads on Craigslist. He arranged meetings with the sellers to purchase their iPads in Daly City on April 5 and San Bruno on April 7. However, instead of paying for the iPads he pepper sprayed the owners and ran off with the devices. On both occasions his wife, Elizabeth drove the getaway vehicle.

Consumers Initiate Class Action Lawsuit
As of June 23rd three plaintiffs have filed a nationwide class action lawsuit against Apple and AT&T for fraud and misrepresentation.
On January 27, 2010 when Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad to the world he also touted AT&T’s 3G data plan offerings. There were 2 plans, 250MB per month for $14.99 and unlimited for $29.99. The plans were to be offered without any contractual obligation required, thus allowing users to activate and deactivate them at anytime without penalty.
iPad As a Ticket Agent
In their main sales office, Malaysia Airlines uses iPad based kiosks to sell tickets.
Using an iPad customers can select their itinerary, pay with a credit card, and receive confirmations through SMS or email. Since the ticketing process is entirely electronic nothing ever printed.
A Political App
Today the Democratic National Committee released the “Barack Obama | Organizing for America” App.
The OFA app provides rich multimedia disbursement for its’ audience. Multimedia features currently include 13 videos of President Barack Obama, most of which would be considered inspiring speaking moments. To complement the videos there is an assortment of photos that capture democratic leaders as well as their supporters.
Push alerts update the national and local DNC news section in real time, while the zip code based Local Events will keep you up to date on activities happening in your area. Using Call Congress, constituents have the ability to look-up and contact members of their congressional delegation.
iPad and MobileMe Track Down Missing iPhone
After his trash was taken away Eric Boehs believed that he mistakenly placed his iPad and iPhone in a box the went with it. Using MobileMe and an iPad 3G, Eric and his friend Billy undertook the task of finding the missing devices.

Life Web Browser
The Life Web Browser by Its About Time is a Safari alternative with unique features.
Using the Life Web Browser you are able to swipe between website favorites on the iPad in the same manner as you would through photos. To alleviate the visual page loads, once you land on a favorite both the pages to the left and right of it are automatically loaded.
The browser also has a queue feature that allows you to attach pages to a site from its’ links for later viewing. Because Life has a built-in email client sending pages can be done with a single touch.
iPad Controlled Drone
The France based company Parrot will be releasing a wireless controlled quadricopter in the U.S. this September.
The AR Drone includes its’ own on-board WiFi network which allows it to be controller by either an iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. The drone includes two cameras which send real time video back to the Apple device’s display.
What sets this radio controlled model apart from the rest is the augmented reality algorithm in its’ apps, which has the ability to place computer generated images in the real world video that the drones cameras send back to the controlling device. This allows the end user to play point of view video games in any surrounding that they can travel to, indoors or out.
The AR Drone will have a retail price of $299.00 and be sold through Parrot’s selected retailers this fall.
AT&T Hacker In Lockup
Andrew Auernheimer, who uses the name “Escher” as well as the hacker handle “Weev”, is being held at the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville Arkansas.
The 24 year old is one of nine core members of the Goatse Security Group. Goatse’s stated purpose is to expose security exploits in computing products. Recently the group exposed a hole in AT&Ts servers that made available over 114,000 email addresses belonging to iPad 3G users.
