Apple Sued For iPads Overheating
Apple is being sued over claims that its’ iPad overheats to easily and shuts off under normal use conditions.
The complaint filed in the Oakland, CA. Federal Court on July 23rd accuses Apple of fraud, deceptive advertising, and unfair business practices for manufacturing, marketing and selling allegedly defective tablets.
The complaint states, “The iPad does not live up to the reasonable consumer’s expectations created by Apple insofar as the iPad overheats so quickly under common weather conditions that it does not function for prolonged use outdoors, or in many other warm conditions.”
The three plaintiffs Jacob Balthazar, Claudia Keller and John Browning are seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
California Man Gets Five Years
Last Friday in San Mateo County Superior Court, James Limos was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery that involved iPads.
Back in April on two separate occasions Limos contacted individuals who were selling their iPads on Craigslist. He arranged meetings with the sellers to purchase their iPads in Daly City on April 5 and San Bruno on April 7. However, instead of paying for the iPads he pepper sprayed the owners and ran off with the devices. On both occasions his wife, Elizabeth drove the getaway vehicle.
